CinC movie still up?

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

In an interview with The Enquirer, following yesterday’s lecture in Cincinnati, Geena reveals that the hope of a CinC TV-movie still hasn’t faded:

Davis said “there is the slightest glimmer of hope” she could return to the Oval Office as President Mackenzie Allen. “There is some interest in doing a TV movie about ‘Commander in Chief,’ ” she said.

And if not, she’s not sure what’s next.

“I don’t think I can ever act again. Any part I’d take after the President of the United States would be a step down,” she joked.

- does this mean that the movie deal mentioned in the two other interviews indeed is a CinC movie..?

Geena on The View this Monday

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

Geena The View July 24 2006 A clip of Geena on ABC’s The View Monday July 24th has just been uploaded; the link is posted on the Interviews page. Thank you, Ed at InterviewsRUs.com, for recording it!

On the show, they did “the usual” talk: how does she cope with three kids that small, why is she glad she waited so long to become a mother, why does she believe CinC was cancelled - and then they congratulated her on the Emmy nomination. A new aspect, at least from previous talkshows, was when they asked her whether CinC was in fact a promotional campaign for senator Hilary Rodham Clinton. Watch it to see what her reply was!

Original story by Rob Owens for Block News Alliance - from the TV Critic’s Association summer press tour

Though ABC canceled Commander in Chief in May, there’s been talk of a TV movie to wrap up the series, but so far it remains just talk.

“Rod [Lurie, series creator] is working with Touchstone [the sister studio that produced the series for ABC], and I think they’re going to pitch us thoughts on a film,” said ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson. “We’ll make a decision based on that.”

Should a film happen, McPherson said the ultimate hope is that it would be successful and lead to a renewal for the series, which starred Geena Davis as the President of the United States. If not, at least the movie might give fans closure.

“The way everybody is talking about serialized drama, we thought it would be a good way to bring a conclusion to that series if it happens,” McPherson said.

ABC Prez on what happened to Madame Prez

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

Original story from TV.com

ABC network president Stephen McPherson answered questions Tuesday at the TV Critic’s Association summer press tour, being held in Pasadena. When asked what he thought went wrong with Chief, McPherson said if he did it again, he would do it all differently.

“We would definitely do it over,” he said. “What we would do is bring it on later in the season and let [show creator] Rod [Lurie] prep for it longer than he had a chance to… He was the voice of that show. I think the week-to-week production of a series was a real education to him… if we had gotten out ahead of it, we would have been able to deliver a show week to week.”

Geena on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Monday, June 26th, 2006

Thanks to Ed at InterviewsRUs.com we can now offer a clip of Geena on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this week. She talks about the recent gala dinner with Chilean president Michelle Bachelet, about her kids and whether they’ve really grasped the idea of their mum as president (Geena joking that from their point of view, the part as Stuart Little’s mother probably overshadows anything else), about bowling and archery. Geena has a glint in her eye as usual, a really great appearance!
