Remington Steele

ep #64: “Steele in the Chips” - Tuesday March 19, 1985 on NBC
Writer: Stephanie Zimbalist, Robin Bernheim
Director: Sheldon Larry

Cast: Doris Roberts (Mildred Krebs), Stephanie Zimbalist (Laura Holt), Pierce Brosnan (Remington Steele)

Guest Cast: Geena Davis (Sandy Dalrymple), Jean Smart (Gloria Blyer), G.W. Bailey (Maynard Stockman), Camille Saviola (Shirley Tannenbaum)

The inventor of a no-calorie cookie disappears along with the only samples, worth millions, and Laura and Remington are hired by different clients to locate him. Meanwhile, Steele is trying to provide security service for an attractive tennis player (Miss Dalrymple) who unwittingly gets caught up in the cookie madness. The office is ransacked several times as three different people are all willing to kill to get the cookies. The dramatic conclusion takes place in a school gymnasium.

The series: Laura Holt gets no respect as a private investigator, so she makes up a fictitious boss named Remington Steele; and the business starts flowing in. The only problem is a dashing, handsome and mysterious thief, who assumes the Remington Steele identity and who, surprisingly, makes a great crime solving team with Holt. Fed by the sexual tension between Steele and Holt, the series works on the old combination of love mystery and romance, sprinkling in the laughs here and there.
